College of Science, Program in science & technology studies
As the boundaries of disciplines are becoming increasingly porous and fuzzy, our society requires scientific talent capable of creatively coping with complex issues and situations. Taking into account the future-oriented trend of modern disciplines and the requirements of the increasingly competitive IT-age, an ability to develop, criticize and comprehensively reorganize science and technology is unavoidable. The Science and Technology Studies graduate school program keenly recognizes such necessity and aspires to tear down barriers among scientific fields to promote communication across disciplines. Through such endeavor, the program aims to foster capabilities in systematic organization, discernment and perception with multidisciplinary insight.
By adopting the “dual instructors” policy, the program enables students to study under the supervision of professors from both Natural Science/Engineering and Humanities/Social Science so that they can develop the requisite wisdom to harmonize the civilization of the former and the culture of the latter. In addition, it also offers a wide range of majors from purely theoretical, fundamental studies to applied sciences.
